Almost $2000 will be distributed to local charities as a result of the weekend’s Jerilderie Flower Show.Flower Show committee member Lorraine Comber said while entires were down on the previous year, there was still a varied array of entries. She said the hall looked and smelled beautiful, and the art work from the schools provided a colourful back drop for the occasion. There was also musical entertainment from the preschool and primary schools students, which Mrs Comber described as ‘‘delightful’’.‘‘Our Flower Show was a great success, although entries were down a little,’’ she said.‘‘We made $3898 on the day which is just under last year’s total. Once expenses come out we are happy to be able to contribute nearly $2000 to several charities we support.‘‘Thanks to all our amazing volunteers and the kitchen staff, who were especially hard working all day preparing a delicious lunch.‘‘Thanks also to the two primary schools and preschool for their entertaining items, to all exhibitors and to the community for supporting us. They also deserve praise and thanks.”Flower Show results:Mary Simpson Perpetual Trophy (arrangement of roses) - Mary Catena.Champion Rose - Chic Dallas. Most Successful Exhibitor - Joy Knight.Norma Rankin Memorial Trophy (peace rose) - Lucy Sweeney.Keith Brew Memorial Trophy (one single stem of flower) - Heather Thomas.
