A successful opening day was held on Sunday at the Finley RSC with 30 players taking part.

In the absence of president Jeff and secretary Karen, vice president Tony Turner took charge of proceedings and welcomed all for the 2019/20 season.
A special welcome was given to Murray Bowls Division vice president Joe Luci before Kerry Turner rolled the kitty and Tony the bowl to open the season.
After a short game of bowls players then enjoyed afternoon tea in the Club.
Joe Luci spoke wished all a great season and informed all players that Murray Bowls will be the host of the Region State finals this year, commenting that we are to show all what greens and hospitality Murray Bowls have.
Past presidents Max Lewis, Archie West ,Warren Blanch and Russell Sullivan then presented Noela Thomas, Margaret Sharp, Therese Thomas, Allan Thomas and Peter Wilson with Certificates of Appreciation for 50 years service to our club.
Bob Birthisel was also presented with his Veterans Badge
Entry sheets for state events are due this Friday. The sheets are on the board so please get your entries in by then
The ladies meeting set down for Friday has been postponed until Tuesday, prior to social bowls at 1.30pm. Names to be in by 12 noon please.
B grade entries close at noon on September 9 and will begin at 1.30pm the following day.
Finley BC
The Holy Shield competition has been finalised with Oaklands being the first winner of the trophy.
The games were closely contested with some good bowling witnessed throughout the day, despite the cold southerly wind.
Final scores were Oaklands 62 to Jerilderie 54 shots.
The remaining game between Berrigan and Finley, was also a close encounter with Berrigan holding a home green advantage, defeating Finley, 74 to 72.
The winners of the mixed draw for partner for the spare players was Finley team Alan Cowan, Sheila Walsh and Norm Wilson.
A group of approximately 30 bowlers from Parkes, NSW, will be visiting here for a social game on Thursday, September 5, to commence at 1pm.
All players are needed to be involved in this mixed draw event.

The new bowling season is nearly here and all players are requested to indicate their availability for the pennant competition, both for Friday and Saturday.
Also commencing soon, is the Open Northern Triples at Berrigan on Tuesday, September 17.
Our players are urged to form their teams and submit the nomination soon.
This should prove to be great opportunity to prepare for the coming pennant matches.

Berrigan
Berrigan Community Bowls Club hosted the final of the Holy Shield on Sunday.
In a keenly contested final it was Oaklands who managed to come away with the win and crown themselves as inaugural champions, defeating Jerilderie 62 to 54 in the final.
Oaklands went through the tournament undefeated – a magnificent effort.
Berrigan managed to scrape home against Finley in the third place playoff 74 to 72.
For the Berrigan teams Rick Bradbury won three matches, Gary Seamer won two matches and Graeme Parr and Roger Reynoldson won one match each.
The round robin series has been a great success and a credit to Rick Bradbury and David Woodward who organised this inaugural year.
The interclub winter round robin is heading towards the finals and all bowlers are requested to finish their remaining matches by September 15 so finals can be played.
The greens will be available from 10am on Saturday for this event.
Once again, the support for this event has been amazing and it should go from strength to strength next year.
The annual social bowls trip is heading to Mathoura on Sunday, September 15.
The trip will cost $20 with lunch extra. This is always a great day so make sure you get your name on the board.
The first round of the Northern Triples will be played in Berrigan on September 17 with a 10am start. A sheet is on the noticeboard.
A reminder to all bowlers that volunteer club coach Geoff Blake is available from 3pm-5pm on Wednesdays for advice and assistance.
Geoff is very kind to offer his time for this and I am sure all bowlers could do with some polishing of their technique in the lead up to the bowls season.
The bowls facilities are looking a treat at present.
The shade shelters and green speed board have all been repainted – a big thank you to our volunteers and Berrigan Men’s Shed for their assistance.
The bowlers have plans to paint the bowls-side of the club building in the next month or two.
Sporting and social memberships are now due and payable.
The board has asked that all memberships are paid as soon as possible to allow for membership cards to be printed.
