Because when you have healthy women, you have healthy communities, homes, workplaces and families.
And the first step to health is education.
That’s why, to coincide with Women’s Health Week last week, the Kyabram Community and Learning Centre (KCLC) partnered with the Kyabram Health Service to run the Ladies Slow Lunch.
Physiotherapist Shani Clark and community health nurse and yoga therapist Vicki Oliver were guest speakers and tackled some taboo topics including incontinence.
It was all about opening up conversations and making a safe space for honest discussion.
“The speakers were incredibly empowering and their presentations were relevant to everyday life,” event organiser and community health nurse Alice Bourke said.
“We had about 50 women join us from all over the Kyabram district and lots of good feedback, especially on the topics that a lot of women feel aren’t always discussed publicly.”
Ms Bourke said she is hopeful that the partnership and event will grow stronger and bigger for next years Women’s Health Week.
