Tatura ram stud to offer “quality line up” at September 30 sale

By Rodney Woods

The top end of the 113 rams that will be offered at a Tatura ram stud sale will be sold with the rest of the flock rather than sold at the Australian Dorset Championships, because of the coronavirus restrictions.

Yentrac owner Rob McCartney said the September 30 sale would offer 70 Poll Dorsets, 22 White Suffolks and 21 Southdowns.

“We've been very successful in the show ring and we use leading edge genetics with our AI program with all three breeds,” Mr McCartney said.

“We use AI to bring the best sires in the country to the stud.

“They have good muscle, good downs quality wool and a fair bit of length to give body weight.”

There will be 113 rams available at the September 30 sale, which will be simulcast on AuctionsPlus.

Mr McCartney said potential buyers would have the opportunity to view the rams for sale at an open day on Wednesday, September 23, from 11 am to 3 pm.

This is in addition to having inspections from 11 am on the sale day.

Those who cannot attend will be able to simulcast the sale through AuctionsPlus.

The Yentrac ram sale will be held on Wednesday, September 30, from 1 pm, at 110 Craven Rd, Tatura.
