The ambitious plan — labelled CN30 — involves axing all beef, lamb and goat farm emissions by the end of the decade.
Flinders + Co managing director James Madden will speak at the publicly available webinar on September 30 from 12 pm to 1 pm.
In 2018, Flinders Co became Australia’s first meat company to commit to full carbon neutrality.
Mr Madden will outline what meeting the CN30 commitment looks like on-farm and at an operating level.
His presentation will cover the carbon offset system the family-owned company has put in place, as well as the network of producers across Tasmania and Victoria that supply to the Flinders Co brand.
The second speaker is Meat & Livestock Australia sustainability program manager Doug McNicholl.
Mr McNicholl said the CN30 initiative was developed to stay ahead of both current and future consumer expectations and retain competitiveness globally.
“The CN30 target sends a clear signal to government and consumers that Australia’s red meat and livestock industry is proactively addressing emissions and taking action to improve long-term productivity,” Mr McNicholl said.
Those watching live are encouraged to type questions into the chat box while the presentations are being delivered, and both Mr McNicholl and Mr Madden will address the questions following their talks.
The webinar is being run by the Intercollegiate Meat Judging Association.
