Key industry figures will meet with the federal energy minister to probe the impact of Australia's bushfire crisis on power generation and distribution.
Angus Taylor will host electricity distributors, transmission companies and major generator-retailers operating in fire-affected areas during a roundtable discussion in Canberra on Thursday.
Government and industry will share information about the impact of the fires and talk about action to help consumers get back on their feet.
The broad-ranging discussion will look at the current state of play and immediate challenges to recovery.
It will also cover actions underway to support consumers, short and long-term options to speed up recovery and the lessons learned from the fires.
Mr Taylor said hundreds of staff from electricity and network businesses had worked with government, defence forces and emergency services to defend power generators and repair damage.
"Their tremendous efforts have seen power restored to tens of thousands of customers across impacted communities," he said.
"Many retailers have announced measures to provide support and financial relief to their affected customers."
He said the focus would be on what government and industry needed to do in coming weeks as well as lessons to guide future actions.
