Crime scene officers from Bendigo are examining the scene at Thompson Holden where a used Kia Carnival was torched about 6am.
Detective Senior Constable Peter Colliver of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said other vehicles in the yard also had their fuel tanks drilled.
‘‘One of them was still leaking fuel when we got here,’’ he said.
‘‘We’re in the process of looking at footage and trying to establish what happened.’’
The fire completely gutted the car and damaged a vehicle parked next to it.
Echuca fire investigator Alan ‘Pa’ Eley said at this stage, it appeared the fire started in one of the tyres.
Det. Snr Constable Colliver said he did not believe it was linked to the car fire near the Back Nine Golf Club on Friday.
