MRC seeks community feedback for Moama bridge art and Meninya St masterplan

MRC's economic development and tourism manager John Harvie said the adoption of the masterplan was a significant milestone for the project.

“While adopting the masterplan does not commit council to fund the overall project, it will provide guidance for the future development of the sites when funding opportunities do arise," he said.

“This is such an exciting and important development for the town, with the final deliverables set to showcase the history of the area, the river environment and the local landscape through art and infrastructure designs that are unique and specific to Moama."

The masterplan was developed following significant community engagement where residents and stakeholders were given the opportunity to learn about the project and provide input into the draft planning document.

Via this engagement process the need for an additional masterplan to cater for the Meninya Street South precinct was also identified.

This has recently been developed to draft stage and is now also on public exhibition.

“The development of Bridge Arts Project and Meninya Street Masterplan also showcased the Meninya Street South Precinct as a key location that provided a number of local attractions,” Mr Harvie said.

“As such, this draft plan has been developed as a guide to enhance these attractions and add value to the experience and journey through Moama - from one end to the other.

“I’d encourage the community to look through both of these plans and provide feedback so we can maximise the success of any future project delivery."

The Meninya Street South Precinct includes the skate park, sound shell, Horseshoe Lagoon, Moama Wharf, Moama Beach and The Slipway.

The final Bridge Art and Meninya Street Masterplan along with the draft Meninya Street South Masterplan will be available for viewing at the Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre, Moama Office or via council’s website from September 2 to 30.
