Community Living and Respite Services’ Murray River Tea Rooms have received another donation of compostable cups from Kevin L’Huillier.
It is the second of five donations which will be fulfilled in the coming years.
“A lot of community groups are always looking for assistance and I decided to get creative and approach one,” Mr L’Huillier said.
“The concept of Murray River Tea Rooms really appealed to me with the introduction of their Upcycle brand and the fantastic work opportunities it creates.
“This donation is a small thing, but it’s part of moving to reduce our reliance on plastics.”The compostable cups are different to regular takeaway cups as the plastic film on the inside is a plant-based alternative.
“As they say, every bit of plastic created is still in existence, it has just become smaller and smaller.”
“Every small contribution adds up to a larger overall contribution and we’re so fortunate that we have the people we do who want to be part of our story,” CLRS chief executive Suzanna Barry said.
“This donation helps us reduce our operational costs so we can support more people with disability as well as help our long-term sustainability.”
Murray River Tea Rooms is a responsible café, meaning if you bring your own reusable cup you receive a 50-cent discount. And if you don’t, your regular-priced takeaway cup is compostable.
