Exhibits and operations manager Mesh Thomson said staff are excited to be able to continually improve upon the interpretive centre.
“A lot of pre-planning has been put in to minimise the disruption to the Port Precinct and our visitors,” she said.
“However, we do acknowledge that our closure may be inconvenient for some operators and customers, and apologise in advance for this.”
River cruises are still running and leaving from the Echuca Wharf.
Management at the Discovery Centre asked that all customers for these cruises meet at the boarding point at the southern end of the Discovery Centre, on the side of Riverboat Dock.
Staff members for each boat will be there to welcome their customers and also walk them back out of the museum.
All pre-arranged group tours with the Discovery Centre will also still be running.
“Tour guide staff will be present at the appropriate times to meet our pre-booked schools and groups,” bookings and marketing officer Jason Clymo said.
“We have also arranged for our steam engineers to be present, to ensure that these groups are still receiving a top quality experience.”
If any other guests and groups would like to pre-book a tour on these days, please contact the Discovery Centre team on 1300 942 737.
