From 10.30am, the Echuca Historical Society will be running a Poetry Trail, a project that aims to bring the history and heritage of Echuca to the community, enriching the cultural experiences of people who reside in, or visit Echuca – particularly those who have not seen poetry as part of their lives or indeed, the world around them.
By their nature, poetry trails can create a better understanding of the power of poetry to appeal to the imagination, to inspire, to entertain and to move – for people of all ages and helps to build awareness of the links between poetry, people and place.
By clicking onto the Echuca Historical Society website, you can listen to the poems themselves and view the map before following the trail on the weekend.
QR codes will be displayed displayed at the five listening stages on the trail indicated by Poetry Trail plaques.
By following the map (GPS) and using a SCAN app on a smart phone, visitors may listen to readings of these poems, which acknowledge our early people, those who came afterwards and the ever challenging river and bush.
