Thomas Hennessy from the Strathallan Glider Sanctuary said the invitation extends to everyone wanting to see, help and learn.
“We are looking for tree hollows, which are a tell-tale sign of other Squirrel Gliders in the area,” he said.
This location was chosen as it is near a small refuge of gliders found in Echuca.
“We know there are a good few gliders in Victoria Park which is only 15km away from this site,” he said.
Strathallan Family Landcare and Glider Sanctuary have a long history helping this endangered animal.
“We have set up more than 350 nest boxes in the Rochester and Echuca area, following the Campaspe river.”
“The Sanctuary opened its doors in late 2015.
“Now housing more than 40 gliders and this year we had six baby gliders born.
“We will be surveying potential release sites for the Squirrel Glider once we get government approval.”
