THE Echuca Moama Alliance (EMA) is calling for quotes from consultants to develop alternative management and operational models for the Echuca Port Precinct.
The precinct is currently managed by Campaspe Shire Council.
EMA is an informal coalition of local businesses, community and association member representatives from both sides of the river.
Also known as The Alliance, the group was brought together by a common desire to ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for the port precinct as the region's primary tourism drawcard.
It is chaired by an independent community member; free from commercial or personal interests in the precinct.
EMA will act as the commissioning agent on behalf of the Port Precinct Working Group, a time limited working group formed by Campaspe Shire where the consultancy scope was collaboratively developed and agreed upon.
For the purpose of transacting the consultancy, the written agreement and financial relationship between the consultant and commissioning agent will be undertaken by Alliance member Committee for Echuca Moama (C4EM).
The funding for the investigation will be shared between Campaspe Shire and organisational members of The Alliance.
Murray River Council was also asked to make a contribution but, at its November council meeting on Tuesday night, deferred the recommendation to offer financial support indefinitely.
It is expected the consultancy will begin on Monday, January 20 and be completed by the end of February with a final report to Campaspe Shire Council in April.
Expressions of Interest to undertake the consultancy (including a detailed quotation) must be received by email to [email protected] by 5pm Friday, December 20.
A detailed consultancy brief can be found at c4em.com.au/port-of-echuca.
