It’s looking like a Men’s Shed Christmas

IF YOU think you’ve been seeing Dasher and Blitzen around town, you’d better believe your eyes.

The streets of Echuca are looking a little bit brighter thanks to the Echuca Moama Men’s Shed who have been busily working to make decorations in the lead up to Christmas.

The Hare and Pakenham St roundabout has been decorated with reindeer and Christmas trees as part of a partnership with the men’s shed and the Echuca Moama Business and Trades Association.

“This is the second year we’ve done this and there were a fair few people at the Men’s Shed who helped out,” Echuca Moama Men’s Shed president Peter Graham said.

“The association contacted us last year to come up with some ideas. We had Masonite donated and Ian used to have a signwriting business so we came up with this.

“Ian designed the decorations, cut them out and painted them but it was a real team effort, there was a lot of help from other members.

“All up, from the beginning to putting them up here in Hare St, it would easily be a dozen people who helped out.”

However, only weeks after the decorations were put up one had been vandalised.

“Considering the amount of work that has gone into these, it’s disappointing that some clown has gone and done that,” Peter said.

As soon as the interview was finished the Men’s Shed members sprung into action and were already loading the damaged decoration onto a ute to be taken away.

“We’ll take it back to the shed, fix it up and it will be back in the coming days,” Peter said.

“And we’re currently planning with council to add to these decorations next year so they’ll look even better.”
