Nextra, Nextra, read all about it

By Lachlan Durling

LONG gone are the days where your newsagent just sold newspapers and magazines. And no one knows that better than the Nextra Echuca team of Joanne, Liz, Andrea and Stephen.

Which is why there’s so much more to your local news hotspot than meets the eye – you wouldn’t read about it.

“It’s not just a newsagency, we have a copy centre which is a drop off and pick up point for couriers as well as a huge range of giftware and office supplies in store,” Nextra’s Liz Dye said.

“Now, people want to be able to come in, get a paper or a magazine and tick a few other things off their to-do list.

“Whether that’s buying a present for a bride-to-be, a new mum, getting a card or buying art supplies – we can help you find what you’re looking for.”

And with Christmas fast approaching, the team can help you find a gift for anyone – including those who are notoriously hard to buy for.

“Magazine or newspaper subscriptions – or even a scratchie tree – are great for people who have everything,” Joanne Dye said.

But if it’s a special occasion, the Nextra team can help – whether it’s finding the perfect gift to mark the occasion or faxing off the paperwork.

“We have car ribbons and wedding giftware, which is something a lot of people don’t realise,” Joanne said.

“We also have a fairly extensive range of giftware for newborns including teddies and blankets.”

“One thing we’ve noticed is a lot of places, such as doctors’ offices, still require people to fax things through – however a lot of people don’t have fax machines anymore – so that is still a big part of our copy centre,” Liz said.

“We can also do large laminating and just regular copying.” And sitting on Echuca’s premier shopping strip, Liz and Joanne know just how important it is to keep money in the local economy.

“I think a lot of people drive through the surrounding towns and see a lot of closed doors or empty shopfronts and that emphasises the shop local message,” Liz said.

“At this point in December we have seen a lesser number of parcels coming through our couriers compared to the same time last year – however that could increase closer to Christmas.

“It’s a great thing to see that people are spending money in their town, which means they are able to find the perfect gift here in Echuca-Moama.”
