After endless years of countless shows, all with some quite questionable acting, the performing arts group’s membership has dwindled to just four; its egomaniacal and narcissistic director Gordon (Aaron David Palmer); bossy and ill-tempered Margaret (Gemma Marchant); tone-deaf and clueless, Joyce (Suzanne Spencer) and inept set builder and banana aficionado, Bernard (Mark Thomson).
Fresh from their annual general meeting, the group must decide on what show to stage next to save the bank balance, their reputation – and the company.
Will it be Oklahoma?
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers?
Or will Gordon pull the club out of arrears by injecting some erogenous comedy into the next show – which also happens to be his literary masterpiece.
Will Joyce get her chance to sing her swansong, or will she just look like an angry ostrich?
Will Bernard get the set built before opening night without it collapsing in his head?
And will Margaret agree to the shenanigans Gordon has planned, or will she have to go against every maternal instinct she has to whip out something surprising before it all goes udderly A over T?
Echuca Moama Theatre Company (EMTC) returns to The Foundry Arts Space following the success of Quartet, staged in 2018 and invites audiences to be a fly on the wall at an amateur drama group with the raucous short plays, Last Tango in Little Grimley and Last Panto in Little Grimley.
Quartet directors Lesley Summers and Tricia Deakin return to give us a taste of the ‘am-drams’.
Staged with cabaret seating, audiences are invited to BYO nibbles and drinks and the Little Grimley plays are a perfect excuse to get a few of your friends together and head out for a laugh-a-minute night at the theatre.
Tables of six or 10 are available and you do not need to book the whole table to buy tickets.
There are four performances; Friday February 28 at 7.30pm, Saturday February 29 at 2pm and 7.30pm and Sunday March 1 at 2pm.
Tickets are $30 only available online at: bit.ly/emtc-grimley
And the Little Grimley plays are not the only little thing EMTC has lined up for audiences in 2020.
An information night will be held for the group’s major musical Little Shop of Horrors, the cult musical about an alien plant hellbent on world domination, on Monday January 13, from 7pm, at The Shed in Simmie Street.
With all this on offer, there’s certainly something for performers and audiences alike to sink their teeth into. More information can be found by following EMTC on Facebook or Instagram.
