Two grass fires along the eastern side of Northern Hwy on Tuesday night are being treated as suspicious by Victoria Police.
Emergency services attended the fires after they were alerted to the incident by two separate motorists about 8.30 pm.
Two CFA units from Corop and one from Elmore first attended a fully involved haystack fire in Burnewang about 9 pm.
The Burnewang fire burned for about an hour before it was brought under control.
About 200 square bales were lost in the fire, but there were no losses to life or property.
A second fire on Northern Hwy between Lowrie and Windfield Rds was reported shortly after.
It was a small grass and scrub fire, about 2 m by 2 m, and was brought under control within minutes of the CFA’s arrival.
Police remained at the scene of the fires after the CFA left, and investigations are ongoing.
