After the announcement made by the Federal government to keep schools up an running at this time, the institutions have been advised to still take necessary measures.
Cancelling assemblies, excursions and large social gatherings as well as ramped up hygiene practices have all been adopted by schools.
Schools such as Moama Anglican Grammar are one of the many making the changes.
“Moama Anglican Grammar is following the advice of the NSW Department of Education and are; continuing to support good hygiene in school, requiring staff or students who are unwell to stay home from school, increasing frequency of cleaning for high touch surfaces and implementing the government recommended social distancing strategy to support ongoing school operations,” principal Carmel Spry said.
The school has put a pause on school assemblies, cancelling school excursions including a planned visit to a local aged care facility and cancelling overnight camps.
“This week we have cancelled Primary Swimming, Year 7 Camp and a number of other excursions. Non urgent interstate travel for teaching and non-teaching staff including attending conferences has also been cancelled,” she said.
“Moama Anglican Grammar is committed to a proactive approach to assist with the “flattening the curve” strategy.
“We want to do our part to ensure vulnerable members of our community are not put at risk.”
Other schools such as Echuca College, Moama Public School and others have introduced similar measures and posted their information on their Facebook pages.
