Despite there being no confirmed cases of the virus in Echuca, the entertainment complex is feeling the heat.
“We've had about half the crowd we would usually have come through the doors,” manager Bec Lillico said.
“We've had to just not play some films because people haven't bought tickets or we've had small groups come to see a movie.”
Not having new films to show has not helped the situation either.
“Film distributors have been postponing the releases of their movies until at least September,” she said.
“Our weeks usually start on a Thursday and we haven't been able to advertise any new releases this week.
“Even if the coronavirus dies down soon, it's still going to affect us until the end of the year.”
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has restricted indoor gatherings to fewer than 100 people, but the theatre's seat allocation system is up to the challenge.
“We're able to make sure people are seated at least a metre and a half away and keep them at a safe distance from each other,” Bec said.
And the Paramount is not looking to go down without a fight.
“We're just taking it one day at a time, but we're not closing the doors,” Bec said.
