Sergeant Shane Walker of Rochester police said a woman driving a dark grey sedan performed an illegal U-turn on Bamawm Rd and collided with a white Ford ute, driven by a Rochester man, aged in his 50s.
No-one was injured in the collision.
"He approached her and made sure she was okay and she climbed out of the car. Then she said she had to make a phone call and got back in the car and took off," Sgt Walker said.
The woman, described as aged in her 20s with long brown hair, was last seen heading north along Bamawm Rd.
Sgt Walker said the man's car was extensively damaged and had to be towed.
"The woman's car will be noticeable as there will be damage to the driver's side door," he said.
Sgt Walker urged the woman, as well as witnesses to the crash and people with information to contact police.
