Moama jams, Kyabram milk, Shepparton apples and Tongala pumpkins are just a taste of what you’ll find at The Pear Tree greengrocers.
Located across the train tracks from Woolworths Echuca, The Pear Tree was started by second-generation fruit and veg man John Oliveri five years ago.
He now runs the store as a family business with his wife Nat.
Sometimes their daughter can be seen around the store, but she isn’t much of a help at 10 months old.
“We stock any local produce we can get – our prices are as good as the supermarkets, if not better,” John said.
“We’ll get mandarins from Tongala, tomatoes from Rochester, and Christmas trees are also another big seller for us in summer.”
During COVID-19 the Oliveris had to close the store's doors.
To keep sales going, a delivery service was introduced on the spot by The Pear Tree.
John said the deliveries were going well, and the business would continue the service as long as it remained in-demand.
“We can do same day deliveries for Echuca-Moama residents, and out of town we deliver to Tongala and Kyabram Tuesdays and Fridays and Cohuna on Wednesdays,” he said.
Deliveries can be booked online at or via email at fresho.com.au/peartree peartreeorders@gmail.com or by calling the store on 5480 1341.
The Pear Tree can be found on the corner of Sturt and Darling Sts.
