The position became vacant following the resignation of Nina O'Brien in early June.
Chairperson Geoff Kelly said there had been strong early interest in the position.
“The position is currently being advertised and we've seen a good early response,” he said.
“We've had a number of requests for a full position description and we are doing our best to keep up with those requests.
“The applications don't close until July 17, so there will be plenty of time for people to register their interest.”
Though a number of issues still hang over the town due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Kelly did not foresee any major issues for whoever filled the position.
“I don't imagine there will be any issues,” he said.
“We'll have to wait and see who applies. In the past, interest has mainly been from within our region, rarely from the outside.
“So they know the challenges of the town and how best to work with them.”
Mr Kelly also expects the position to be filled as soon as possible.
“Nina did a fantastic job in putting everything ion place for her exit,” he said.
“We're just doing our job of keeping the lights on for the time being, knowing the position will likely be filled soon.
“Projects that were on the go at the time of her departure are in a good position, so we continue to make progress in terms of our direction.
