Crews start Echuca-Moama border closure preparations

By Brayden May

NSW Police and Murray River Council staff have started putting up road blocks and detour signs as the border between NSW and Victoria closes for the first time in a century.

From midnight, no Victorians outside of Echuca's postcode will be able to cross the river without a permit issued by the NSW Government.

Traffic has been quickly in the past hour as people attempt to cross the bridge.

These can be accessed by the Services NSW website when they are made available.

It is understood a driver's licence with your home address will help you access north of the border.
