AMBULANCE Victoria has assured Echuca-Moama residents that services will remain as normal despite the closure of the border between NSW and Victoria.
Despite the possible build-up of traffic at the bridge, Ambulance Victoria's Loddon Mallee regional director Michael Georgiou said the necessary measures to help emergency services were in place.
“Ambulance Victoria has been preparing for COVID-19 since mid-January including providing all paramedics with personal protective equipment to keep themselves and their patients safe,” Mr Georgiou said.
“All emergency and healthcare workers will continue to be able to cross the border for the purposes of their work.
“This means that our operational emergency response will continue as normal as we work in collaboration with our partner agencies.
“Residents of Echuca, Moama, and all border towns can be assured they will continue to receive the same level of timely and professional healthcare they’ve come to expect from us.”
NSW Police has been contacted for comment about what would happen in an emergency situation.
