In the seven days to Monday, July 20, almost 4000 tests were completed in the district, up from 2000 previously.
On Thursday, July 17, 28 people were tested at the MLHD mobile testing clinic in Moama and 11 in Barham.
In the past four weeks MLHD has conducted 135 tests in the Murray River Council area. This number does not take into account those tested elsewhere, including at Echuca Regional Health.
No positive cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Murray River Council area.
The clinic is available again on Friday, July 24, in Moama from 8:30am to 10am, at 6 Meninya St.
MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford said nearly 30,000 tests had been conducted since testing began March.
“We’ve seen numbers ramp up enormously in the last week,” she said.
“I just want to reassure you we have increased our staff to undertake more testing.
“We’ve also seen a great improvement in the turnaround times of our testing samples — they’re down to about 24 hours on average for those going through NSW pathology laboratories.
“Please be tested even at the remotest respiratory symptom; come forward and we will test you.”
Moama residents have also been tested for COVID-19 at ERH, and will still be able to.
NSW residents within the border zone who get tested at ERH will only need to self-isolate until their receive their results.
People outside the current border zone who visit ERH for a COVID-19 test or an appointment will be required to self-isolate for 14 days on re-entry to NSW.
