In August last year council held an expression of interest for the purchase of the land and building that is cinema one in the Echuca Paramount Complex.
In the supporting documents for the EOI last year, council said "it is in the best interests of all stakeholders involved in performing arts to divest from its interests in the Echuca Paramount Complex".
Council was seeking expressions of interest and said it was "looking for that purchaser to add value to the current entertainment services provided at the site and by doing so ensure Echuca maintains a vibrant performing arts and entertainment hub".
Campaspe Shire entered into a collaborative arrangement with Paramount operator Southern Star Enterprises, with council owning cinema one and sharing common property.
The share arrangement includes access to the green room and the foyer, for the ticket box and lolly bar.
Council has now posted a notice of intention to sell the land by auction, meaning the freehold of the primary cinema could be up for grabs.
Submissions can be made to council in writing until October 9.
Submissions should be addressed to the chief executive and can be emailed to shire@campaspe.vic.gov.au or posted to the chief executive, Campaspe Shire Council, PO Box 35, Echuca, VIC 3564.
Following the consideration of submissions, council may choose to sell all or part of the land, or not sell the land.
