With the state moving to the second step of the Victorian Roadmap to a COVID-normal society at 11.59pm on Sunday, September 13, playgrounds and exercise equipment located throughout the municipality re-opened earlier on Monday.
“Council thanks the community for their efforts in adhering to the re-introduction of COVID-19 measures, which have been in place since early August,” Gannawarra Shire chief executive Tom O’Reilly said.
“The re-opening of playgrounds located in towns throughout the Gannawarra will provide enjoyment for children at this time, especially as the days become longer and warmer.”
Playgrounds and reserves throughout the region will be a popular choice for residents to gather following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, with up to five people from a maximum of two households able to meet outdoors for social interaction.
“Council looks forward to welcoming people back to our reserves, which have been maintained by our dedicated staff throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Unfortunately as part of current COVID-19 restrictions, skate parks will remain closed at this time, but we look forward to re-opening these facilities at a later date.”
