Destination NSW will assist tourism operators, local tourism organisations and councils in advertising campaigns to bring visitors to their attractions.
The newly announced Tourism Industry Marketing Support Grants Program will see Destination NSW match dollar-for-dollar outlays from between $10,000 and $50,000 for marketing campaigns for successful applicants.
Echuca Moama Tourism chief executive Kathryn Mackenzie said it was an exciting opportunity for local business.
“It's great to see the NSW Government being involved in helping the industry in its recovery,” she said.
“The fact it is for immediate use means that that it would bring people into the community now and bring a financial benefit to the community immediately while they are still struggling with their losses from lockdowns.”
Ms Mackenzie said the campaign opened the community up to co-operative work.
“Being dollar-for-dollar means a major spend in the industry,” she said.
“But it allows different groups and businesses to work together in a campaign to drive people to their businesses. It provides a benefit to more than one agency which is great for the whole community.”
Ms Mackenzie said discussions were always ongoing about ways to promote the community and local tourism industry.
“We've started discussions with other agencies that we can work with,” she said.
“And they will continue to go on. We will always look for ways to spread the message about what Echuca-Moama has to offer to tourists and to continue to build its image.”
Eligible campaigns are required to identify a key experience theme from a list of nature and outdoors, food and drink, arts and culture, history and heritage or stay and accommodation, and are required to immediately drive business through either winter or spring of 2021.
Grant funded activity is required to conclude by October 30.
Victorian businesses who drive visitors to NSW will also be eligible for the marketing boost.
Applications are open until 5pm on May 13, with information and full eligibility requirements available at the Destination NSW website.
