On August 2, the Department of Health announced that if you are not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and you are not vulnerable to serious illness, you will no longer be eligible for a PCR test.
Community members that proceed to a testing site will be offered a RAT, however, symptomatic clients can request a PCR.
Community members who are eligible for their ‘winter dose’ COVID-19 vaccination are being encouraged to make a booking through their local pharmacy, GP, or the Echuca Regional Health clinic.
The ‘winter dose’ is available for adults aged 30 years and above, three months after receiving their third dose or three months post COVID-19 infection.
ERH’s director emergency medicine, Dr Simon Judkins, said prevention of infection is the most important thing people can do to protect themselves, their friends and families.
“I would strongly encourage everyone to look at their current vaccination status and ensure they are up to date, for both COVID-19 and Influenza,” Dr Judkins said.
“We would also recommend ongoing mask use, particularly indoors. Our health systems are very stretched right now, so avoiding illness should be a priority for everyone.”
