Principal Brendan Yu’s background as a Barham local and former student of Barham High School helps to guide his vision for its future.
“We’ve got a great school and we’ve got some great things happening,” he said.
“We’ve got a long-term plan of what we want to achieve with our results and where we want to go with our resources.
“It’s about making sure that every kid can improve every year, and we’re having that impact.
“Growing up in Barham myself, it was a great place when I was a kid and I want to make it a great place for them as well.”
While the win came as a shock, Mr Yu credited his staff for their hard work in helping the school community to thrive.
“Our staff go above and beyond in everything they do,” he said.
“Whether it be the people out on the grounds mowing the lawns or the teachers in the classrooms, they’re doing a great job.
“It’s very humbling — I didn’t expect us to win.”
