Police are investigating a grass fire near Back 9 Golf Course on McKenzie St, Echuca on Tuesday, November 30.
Echuca CFA members, Parks Victoria staff and police attended the call-out about 3.30pm.
The fire spread through grass and scrub next to a bike path near the Campaspe River and was brought under control by CFA crews in about half an hour.
Campaspe Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Barry Gray confirmed the fire was under investigation.
“We’re concerned at this time of year about the impact of fires, especially this close to town,” he said.

CFA crews also attended a boat fire near Riverlander Caravan Park, and then a roof fire on Campaspe Esplanade on Wednesday afternoon.
The boat eventually sank in the river due to the damage while the roof fire was quickly contained.
