Rochester Netball Association look set to bounce back

By Brayden May

ROCHESTER Netball Association players are just days away from getting back out on the court.

The club is targeting a return to play date of Monday, July 20.

While it may be at short notice, the club is seeking expressions of interest in the hope of being able to put a modified season together.

President Leah Cottom said it was nice for players to have something to look forward to.

“It has been a long time since we were able to play games,” she said.

“We’ve had about 20 responses so far which is great. The main thing is that we can get kids out on the court and having some fun together.

“There is no doubt the past several months has been difficult for everyone so having sport back in our lives is very important.”

Those interested can fill out a form online via the association’s Facebook page.

The details required include name, whether you are interested in seeing the season go ahead and any questions or comments about how you feel about the level of safety that may be involved.

“It’s easy to understand why some people might be a little bit worried,” Cottom said.

“We held a committee meeting last week and we’re really confident that we’ve got the right systems in place to make sure we are following the rules.

“Netball Victoria has been really good with their guidance so that has helped put us in the right direction.”

Cottom also confirmed the NetSetGo program will not resume on July 20.

“We want to see how everything will run in the first couple of weeks before making a decision,” she said.

Leah can be contacted on 0400 619 271 if anyone is seeking more information.
