After the approval of the three controversial solar farm sites in Greater Shepparton, the company behind the Lemnos project has confirmed it hopes to start construction by the middle of 2020.
Neoen, who recently completed the Numurkah Solar Farm at Drumanure, said the Lemnos site would bring more than 300 jobs to the area.
"We anticipate the construction phase of the site will commence in mid-2020 and are excited to be able to offer upward of 300 immediate jobs to the local and surrounding community," Neoen Australia’s managing director Louis de Sambucy said.
"There will also be additional employment opportunities throughout the solar farm’s lifetime after construction is complete.
"Neoen is committed to the regional communities across the country and as always, will focus on leveraging the experience of local suppliers and contractors to maximise the benefits to each region and support their economic growth."
