An $86 charge for the five-year stock permit had been proposed, but in a review process the idea has been shelved.
Council has also dropped a permit requirement for the use of shipping containers for agricultural use in the farming zone, providing they are appropriately screened or located.
Strathbogie Shire corporate operations director David Roff said under the old local law, a permit was only required when livestock were being driven into Strathbogie Shire from outside its boundaries.
So, a permit was not needed for property owners within the shire when they wanted to move stock locally.
“This previous local law came under review because it was due to expire next month,” Mr Roff said.
“As a result, we’ve conducted extensive consultation and worked with our community to develop laws that ensure safety and protect local amenity, without being too restrictive.“Under the adopted local law, a permit is only required when stock are coming into Strathbogie Shire from outside our boundaries.
“In addition, permits are not required for property owners who are located directly next to our boundary, or whose property crosses our boundary and into another.”
