Shooting hoops for a cause

More than $3500 was raised for people impacted by bushfires at a round-robin basketball competition in Seymour last week.

Organiser Bree D’Andrea said the response from the community to donate their time and goods for a raffle was overwhelming.

“It was a great success and the community spirit behind the event was astounding,” she said.

“The referees all kindly donated their time and are due a massive thank you.

“It’s great to see the people of Seymour and district band together when someone needs a hand.”

The champions on the night among a strong field of competitors were The ‘Mour and runners-up were Da Boys.

Nate Tennant was the major winner in the raffle, with Edyth Holman runner-up and Lynne Morgan third.
