The Jets put in a clinical performance against Waaia on the opening day of their round six contest, dismissing the Bombers for 86 off 55.4 overs.
When day two resumes at Waaia Recreation Reserve tomorrow, the Jets will need a further 47 runs to claim first innings points, with Joel Brett (26 not out) and Ben Pedretti (11 not out) at the crease.
Northerners coach Steve Allen said his side had one thing on its mind upon resuming at 1-40.
“Our first objective and main focus is on passing Waaia's score and getting the six points,” he said.
“We cannot get ahead of ourselves.
“But if we can secure victory then we will assess where the game is at and our approach on the rest of the day's play.
“If everything goes according to plan, it may be a good opportunity for us to focus on a few areas with the bat and hopefully a few of the boys can enjoy some time at the crease.”
One player that could get some time out in the middle is Ryan Sidebottom.
Named in the Jets’ line-up after whacking 90 runs in a B-grade match, the Warwickshire and former Victorian paceman is set to don the pads tomorrow after not rolling the arm over last week.
The talented cricketer is back at his old club in between English County cricket seasons and Allen said it was always great to have the experienced head available for selection.
“It's looking like Ryan will be available for us for a couple of games,” he said.
“It's always great to have someone of his talents and experience around the club.
“He has always been very good with our juniors and players at training and we love having him around when we can.”
