Yesterday's preliminary final battles produced plenty of tight results, but when the dust settled only two teams remained in each division to battle for glory next week.
Hill Top claimed victory in division one against Shepparton Park at Tatura Bowls Club by five shots in a nail-biting affair — despite not losing a rink across the contest.
Dianne Downie for the Hillbillies drew 18-all with Parker Bev Cahill, while Lyn Nicholson (24-20) and Jeanette Overall (24-23) helped secure the 66-61 triumph.
Hill Top will face Shepparton Golf in next week's finale, looking to be the first GVBD top tier champion outside of the Golfers and Parkers since Mooroopna's 2011-12 weekend pennant crown.
Golf is searching for its second Edna Harling Shield in a row.
● Shepparton Park was a comfortable victor against Shepparton Golf in division two, taking out the clash 80-57.
Leonie Freeman's 30-18 win at East Shepparton Bowls Club led the way for the victors, with Bev Thorn (24-16) and Pam Henderson (26-23) also managing rink wins.
Euroa awaits the Parkers in the decider after defeating them by five shots last week.
● Seymour tasted success in the division three preliminary final, defeating Mooroopna at Tatura.
The Lions take on Kyabram next week after the Power claimed a 12-shot triumph in the qualifying final.
Seymour's last midweek pennant flag in the GVBD came in division two in 2013-14, while Kyabram has snared one in each of the past three seasons.
● Shepparton Park A had to dig deep in division four against Nagambie at East Shepparton.
Angel Manneken had a huge 30-16 victory for the Lakers, but it paled in comparison to Lyn Oliver's 39-8 triumph for the Parkers.
The final rink of play was a close contest, with Marg Stibbard snaring a 19-18 win for the Parkers to secure a 74-56 success.
Shepparton Golf got the Parkers by two shots last week and will look to do the same again in the decider.
● Katandra West earned a rematch with Dookie in division five after defeating Seymour 59-40 at Tatura yesterday.
Fiona Rourke had a 30-22 victory for the Westerners and was complemented by Maree Ash's 29-18 triumph.
