Dortmund denied by own goal in Bundesliga

By AAP Newswire

A late own-goal denied Borussia Dortmund victory at Eintracht Frankfurt after Jadon Sancho's strike looked to have sealed all three points in Germany's Bundesliga.

Thomas Delaney inadvertently turned Daichi Kamada's shot past Roman Burki with only two minutes remaining.

Alex Witsel's early strike had given Dortmund the lead, but summer signing Andre Silva levelled things up before England international Sancho restored the visitors' advantage from close range with his third league goal of the season.

The late setback leaves Dortmund third in the table, three points behind leaders RB Leipzig and one behind champions Bayern Munich.

"We have positioned ourselves stupidly," Dortmund captain Marco Reus told Sky TV.

"We have led twice and simply must see that through to the end."

Last season's runners-up Dortmund have now taken only four points from three away games so far.

Sunday's other game saw Borussia Monchengladbach come from behind to beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-1 thanks to a late double from substitute Marcus Thuram after Kasim Nuhu had opened the scoring after six minutes at Borussia Park.
