While he no longer is a full-time V8 Supercar driver, he continues to take part in the competition’s endurance event.
So, it is only fitting he regularly competes in the Southern 80.
“I don’t know, heaps,” he joked when asked how many times he had competed in the race.
On the weekend, Kelly, 40, guided Mojo to victory in the 5.2 litre and 6-cylinder expert class.
During the race, Kelly was joined by Brad Winter (observer), Gerard Atkins and Paul Bruton (skiers) and he couldn’t have been prouder of his team’s efforts.
After all, they did bounce back from a broken skiing rope in the President’s Dash.
“Our run on Sunday was good considering what happened on Saturday,” he said.
“That incident put us about 15 spots back from where we wanted to be to start the race on Sunday.
“After the first few minutes, we caught a boat and were able to pass them. Along the way we were able to pass a few others which certainly helped us to put a good time on the board.
“The guys did a good job especially when we were in and out of bad water pretty much the entire way.
“It’s still good to get in and say we finished the race.”
