In the new look event - across distances of 5km and 10km - up to 750 runners will aim to move faster than a paddlesteamer.
While there will be a strong focus on beating the paddlesteamer, organiser Chris Lee said it was great to be able to give back to the community.
“We're proud we will be able to give back to several local organisations,” she said.
“It's important to give funding to these organisations because the smallest donation has the ability to make the biggest difference.
“Having the Echuca-Moama Triathlon Club come on board to help run the event has been a huge success in the lead-up.
“By the time the event is over we hoped to have raised close to $20,000.”
“We want everyone involved to have fun and make sure they take care of themselves.”
Entries for Sweat v Steam will remain open until Thursday at 10pm, although late entrants can register at Saturday's registration day for a late fee of $10 - with the payment via card only.
Entry cost $40 for open class, masters (35-54) and veterans (55+) runners, $18 for people with a disability and $15 for primary and secondary students.
A family entry (two adults and three children) costs $120.
Runners will be able to collect their race bib, pre-purchased singlet and timing chip from Hopwood Gardens on Saturday between 1pm and 3pm.
Although some singlets will be available on Saturday.
