When Noy arrived at the I Compete Natural (ICN) Victorian State Championships last month, he thought he was well out of his depth.
But he soon realised his best good enough as he finished first in the men's classic physique novice and open divisions.
“I was nervous looking at the other competitors and I was quick to judge myself,” Noy said.
“I chose to compete in those divisions because I've always liked the old school look those guys do have. It was something I always wanted to do.
“When I was announced as the winner it was certainly a shock because I wasn't expecting to do so well.
“It certainly gave me a boost in confidence which is pleasing in any sport.”
Noy's win followed on from his success at the Australian Natural Bodybuilding Victorian State Championships in 2017 and how has earned the right to compete at the ICN National Champions on October 13.
“Your goal is always to compete at the highest possible level,” Noy said.
“I'll be training hard again because I have the opportunity to reach the World Championships in Melbourne later in the year.
“To reach that stage would be an amazing opportunity.”
