And next Friday and Saturday, lawn bowl's biggest new event - the World Bowls Challenge - will descend on the twins towns to add another chapter to its historic sporting history.
The event will see Australia's top 10 male and female bowlers compete against a team made up from athletes around the world.
Moama Bowling Club (MBC) is preparing to host the event in the first event of three in what looms as a massive summer for the club.
“We're really looking forward to the challenge of hosting a brand new event,” MBC sports administrator Zane Mikin-Laurie said.
“But it isn't only an exciting time for our club but bowls across our region and the country. To be able to host the best players in the world is a real honour.
“We're hoping the community can get behind having a world-class event in our own backyard.”
And with several countries set to be represented, Mikin-Laurie said local businesses were set to benefit.
“We want our visitors to experience the region as a whole,” he said.
“It's not every day you have world-class events come to the twin towns and we want to do the most to have them come back.”
