On a Saturday night in January, against the same opposition, they could sew up a finals appearance.
The Lady Pirates are on the verge of going from one win in the 2018-19 season, to making the finals in 19-20.
With a game in hand over fifth placed Kyneton, as well as a one game lead in the battle for fourth place, the side needs just one win from this weekend's home double header against Swan Hill and Bendigo.
Coach Lisa Baker said her team was well aware of the situation they find themselves in.
“It's an exciting position, but also a nervous one,” she said.
“The team is well aware of where they sit at the moment, they know a win will secure the finals position, so there is definitely some pressure there.”
Having already won against Swan Hill and having come close to Bendigo in their last meeting, Baker said her side was prepared.
“We've had a few close matches with both of these sides this year,” she said.
“We've learnt a lot about how we play, we know this can get away from us so we absolutely need to play our best to get the win, but if we do we get a reward we have been hunting all season.”
The side laid out a finals finish as their goal for 2019-20, and Baker said it was exciting for her team to be on the verge of achieving their goal.
“It's something we have worked incredibly hard as a team towards,” she said.
“We haven't played in close to a month, so we have been working pretty hard in our training, and we are really looking forward to this weekend and what it brings for us.”
