At quarter-time during last year’s qualifying final, LBU looked set to book their place in the second semi-final against minor premiers North Bendigo – kicking seven goals to three.

But Colbo were able to work their way back into the contest in the second term, stunning the Cats to lead by five points at half-time.

The third term was a much tighter affair as Colbo led by just two points at the final change.

And they couldn’t be stopped in the final term, kicking six goals to two.

Dan Connors was at his dominant best, booting seven majors.

Leitchville-Gunbower v Elmore

Round three, 2019 at Elmore Recreation Reserve

Elmore 10.12 (72) def. Leitchville-Gunbower 8.19 (67)

Bad kicking is bad football and Leitchville-Gunbower learnt that the hard way when they faced off against the Bloods last year.

Despite leading at every change, the visitors were made to pay for their inaccuracy as Elmore held them goal-less in the final term, kicking three of their own.

“We knew we had a good game plan,” Bombers coach Danny Teskera said.

“We started executing it really well. Our attack on the footy was really good, our entries inside 50 were fantastic.

“But in the opening quarter of the match we kicked 3.7 and it basically set the tone for how our day was going to go from that point onwards.”
