Last Friday saw eight members come out on the courts to play croquet.
Just remember to do the right thing — keep our distance and keep our hands clean.
Echuca Moama had two guests last Friday — Cheryl and Jay.
They both had a great day and enjoyed themselves.
Jay played a great shot which bounced off the hoop and went through.
We had an even number of players — four women and four men.
John Graham played very well on the day, scoring a hoop in one.
Jeff Pumpa scored a jump shot — well done to the boys.
Due to the incoming restrictions again we are not allowed to play for at least the next six weeks.
On Monday, there were some very good results.
We had 16 members come out to play in the beautiful sunshine.
Everyone was disappointed with it being the last day for them.
We all had a great day with plenty of laughs and were a bit louder than usual.
We just wanted to make sure we all had a enjoyable day.
When we arrived we all had our masks on then sanitised our hands and out we went to play our games.
Our masks were all different colours and not very comfortable.
We did the right thing and kept them on.
Winners for the day were Trevor Peters who won all three games with a nett hoop score of +10.
‘‘Twinkle Toes’’ John Tarrant was runner-up with a three game win and a nett hoop score of +9.
Hoops in one were won by Mavis Peters and Kaye Joyce with one each.
Trevor Peters scored two jump shots while John Graham and John Tarrant had one each.
This will be the last report for the next six weeks.
Until we come back, all stay safe and keep well.
Rich River
The traditional opening of the season was held at the club on Tuesday in bitterly cold weather.
Rich River Golf Club chief executive Shane Gloury, president Peter Boek and director Peter McLaughlin joined 13 club members for the running of the first hoop, which was won by Shane.
The club was pleased that Shane and Peter B stayed to play a game with members Ian Grant and Ruth Mole, and that Peter M stayed to play two games, which is all the club played on the day.
Now Peter M hadn’t played croquet before yesterday but had watched some YouTube videos.
He played two games and won both, ending the day as equal winner with Fiona Larcombe on a nett hoop score of +7.
Welcome to croquet Peter.
Ian Grant and James Gunn also won two games and were tied on a nett hoop score of +5, with Ian coming in just ahead on a countback.
Now the season is officially open at Rich River and the NSW members can continue to enjoy the game while the Victorian members look on in envy.
On Thursday last week, 13 members at golf croquet played a mix of doubles and threes.
There was only one three-game winner — Fiona Larcombe who had a nett hoop score of +11.
Well done to John Kenley and Dave Maher who had hoops in one.
Also on Thursday a group of Echuca resident members travelled to Kyabram to join their club for an enjoyable morning’s play.
The day’s winner there was Russ Smyth of Rich River.
