Having now received approval from Campaspe Shire to return to Echuca Stadium in line with the state's restrictions on sport, the club has now asked coaches for each age group to commence trials for the teams.
Echuca Basketball Association president Phil Candy said the club was excited to get back into action.
“We're sending out messages to people who expressed interest in playing,” he said.
“And the plan is to get back next week and get the kids back playing. It will be good to get everyone who wants the opportunity to be involved in the program back out and playing.”
The yearly Bendigo tournament on Australia Day weekend is still set to go ahead, and there are now discussions of a Wodonga tournament in the first few months of the year.
And there could be more local play to come.
“We're having conversations with Rochester,” Candy said.
“If it's possible, and we are still working through those details, we would love a local tournament in place of the one we lost.
“What that looks like is unclear, and there is a lot to be done before we make a decision, but we'd love to see some local basketball if we can.”
