Due to extreme weather, only 18 players entered the men’s three-bowl pairs.
To prevent byes, the field was rearranged into triples, and the winners were Denis Demeo, John Stuart and John Armstrong. In second was Hugh Davies, Gerry Devlin and Keith Rowan.
As it requires 20 players, there was no roll-off for the jackpot, which remains at $150 for next week and will only require two of the four bowls within the meter stick (minimum of 10 teams).
Wednesday, August 17
Men’s three-bowl pairs (single entries) will be played. Phone booking is available via Rich River Bowls office on 5481 3390. Entries should be in by 10.30am.

Lockington
The weekly game of scrounge proved popular last Wednesday with four rinks in operation.
The club welcomed visitors from Echuca Bowls Club, along with a couple of new members. We hope that you enjoy your time with the club.
On the green, the competition was a little bit warmer than the weather, however the best of bowling was witnessed.
On rink one, Gayle Kerr excelled to take home the win from Denise Gilmore. Rink two provided some classic bowling from John Fisher as he held out the consistent Neil Haines.
Echuca bowler June Clifford left no stone unturned as her bowls did the talking to win rink three ahead of Annie Haines.
On the final rink, left-handed master Graham Turner scored 49 points to lead home Russell Shawcross on 46.
The game of scrounge will continue on Wednesdays, weather permitting, until the 60-and-over competition begins. Starting time will be 1pm.
At the weekend, a team of members enjoyed the hospitality of the Echuca Bowls Club for the annual Spiers Family Spring Fours over the two days.
The rink comprised Jim Harris, Brian Kinnane, Russell Shawcross and Ken Main (s).
After combining brilliantly, the team managed to win four out of the scheduled five games before losing the final game by two shots and therefore missing the outright section two by three shots.
To add insult to injury, it also managed to lose the sectional play-off by one shot.
It was an enjoyable weekend of bowls and congratulations to the host club for the presentation of the greens following the Friday evening rain. Saturday was a day of four seasons in one, but the bowlers were happy with the opportunity to play.
On Friday, August 26, the club will hold the opening day for the 2022-23 season of bowls. Starting at 6.30pm, names are to be listed for catering purposes.
The 60-and-over competition will begin on Wednesday, August 31, with Mathoura Bowling Club hosting the first round.
Echuca
The Echuca Bowls Club hosted the Spiers Family Spring Fours last weekend, with 48 teams from around Victoria and NSW competing in this popular tournament.
The tournament is held in recognition of the wonderful contribution members of the Spiers family have made to the club for more than 70 years.
After two days of bowling, the winners and minor placings were determined. The results were:
first: Anthony Gallenti’s team (Whittlesea)
second: Mark Sellwood’s team (Tallygaroopna)
third: Greg Clymo’s team (Echuca)
fourth: Stuart Whyte’s team (Moama).
Section winners: teams entered by Bob Watt, Peter Tinning, Peter Coates and Steve Cunnington.
Play-offs for the minor prizes resulted in wins for the teams entered by Rob Clayton (Rochester), Rob Wastell (Moama), Nick Jarman (Barham), Phil Denham (Kyabram) and Terry Taylor (composite).
Spiers family member Lorraine Harrison presented the trophies.
Social bowls took place on Monday, August 8. The winners were Joan Dovaston, Kevin Scolyer and Max Bennett, while the runners-up were Kevin McAsey, Neil Dovaston and Kristy Gillingham.
