Wednesday, July 27:
Men’s three-bowl pairs
Twenty-four players braved the Arctic weather, with Big Freeze beanies everywhere.
With the greens running well, John Stuart and Graeme Williams won the day with three wins and 79 points, with Peter Jackson and Paul Kearney a close second on three wins and 78 points.
Third place with two wins and 53 points were Roger Teasdale and Barry Cox. With the jackpot at $140 and only three of their four bowls required within the metre stick, the boys come close but again went from chocolates to boiled lollies and became new members of the boiled lollies club.
Wednesday, August 3:
Men’s three-bowl pairs
With the greens running well, Hugh Davies and John Hart won the day being the only three-game winners with 80 points, while in second place with two-and-a-half wins and 61 points were Keith Hewitt and Keith Rowan.
With the jackpot at $140 and only requiring three of their four bowls within the metre stick, the boys were unsuccessful, hence joining the boiled lollies club, with Huey getting his second boiled lolly.
Next week’s jackpot goes to $150 and will only require two of the four bowls within the metre stick (minimum of 10 teams).
