Hamilton booted seven goals straight for the Tigers, a remarkable achievement that set a number of new benchmarks for Rochester and across the Goulburn Valley League this season.
His seven majors are the most in a game for a Rochester player this season, and are tied for the fifth-most in a match across the GVL, behind Michael Hartley (Seymour, 10), Ruory Kirkby (Echuca, 10) and Christopher Nield (Mooroopna), who has kicked eight goals on two occasions.
But Hamilton’s accuracy accomplished a feat that has not been bettered this season — he has now kicked the most goals in a game without registering a single behind.
Hartley, Kirkby, Thomas Holman (Kyabram), Will Foster (Mansfield) and Lachlan Smith (Kyabram) have all kicked bags of five goals with no blemishes so far this season, but fall short of Hamilton’s new benchmark.
It was a great day out for the 18-year-old, who had his best game for Rochester so far against the Demons after making his debut in the yellow-and-black against Mooroopna in round 12.
Hamilton can play in both the midfield and up forward and had kicked three goals in his first four games for the Tigers.
The youngster is a top young prospect, having played for both the Bendigo Pioneers and Carlton’s VFL side this season before making his Rochy debut.
It is still early days, but Hamilton’s accurate day in front of the big sticks means he boasts Rochester’s best goal-kicking accuracy among players with 10 or more goals.
Hamilton’s 10.4 gives him a goal-kicking accuracy of 71 per cent, just ahead of Mitch Cricelli and Christopher Jansen at 68 per cent.
Hamilton is from Colbinabbin and his twin brother, Cooper, made his AFL debut for Greater Western Sydney earlier this year.
