So far, Nagambie has been the competition’s benchmark, with a perfect 7-0 record and a percentage that sits above 400.
That’s the size of the challenge that awaits Undera in round nine, the Lions taking on the league leader at Undera Recreation Reserve.
Undera has one win at this stage of the season, a 122-point drubbing of Violet Town, who ironically is the only other team with one win.
The Towners travel to Lancaster this weekend, the premiership-contending Wombats sitting second, also with a perfect record like Nagambie.
Lancaster is heavily favoured to win again at Lancaster Recreation Reserve and Nick Ryan’s team will be eyeing a big percentage boost in the process.
Both Violet Town (12th) and Undera (11th) are faring slightly better than bottom-placed Merrigum, which is winless.
The Bulldogs will have another week off this weekend by serving their individual bye, not returning to action until June 20 against Longwood.
The Redlegs host fifth-placed Shepparton East this week. Longwood is sitting fourth behind third-placed Murchison-Toolamba, with the Grasshoppers hosting Stanhope at Murchison Recreation Reserve.
Matt Butler’s seventh-placed Lions bounced back into form with a win over Undera last time out, but they have a 1-3 record in games against sides above them on the ladder.
Stanhope faces another finals contender in Murchison-Toolamba this weekend, aiming to prove it can go toe-to-toe with the competition’s best sides.
Hot on the heels of Stanhope is Tallygaroopna (eighth), which will host Rushworth.
The 10th-placed Tigers, a preliminary finalist in 2025, have dropped off significantly so far this year, picking up only two wins from their first seven matches.
Sitting between Rushworth and Tallygaroopna in ninth is Girgarre, which, like Rushy, has only two wins to its name.
The Kangaroos travel to face sixth-placed Avenel this week, looking to fare much better than round eight, when it lost to Longwood at home by 50 points.
All round nine Kyabram District League matches will begin at 2.15pm on Saturday.
